February 2011 – Josh Blair presented at this month's IES meeting on 'Installation and Commissioning of a Complete Lighting Control System for Commercial Projects' on February 22nd. An expert panel reviewed some of the latest developments in Lighting and Lighting control for a sustainable strategy in commercial construction. Presenters covered the key elements of design, installation and commissioning for applications in new construction and retro-fit projects.
February 2011 – Norman Goldschmidt instructed a one-day HVAC training course Wednesday, February 16th. The session, GMP HVAC Design for Bio/Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Facilities, is approved for .60 CEU's. The program focused on cleanroom theory, regulations, and design process, considerations and typical designs. Learn the real cGMPs of HVAC for facilities across the global market place. Explore common misconceptions with a special focus on misunderstood and often overlooked issues. Identify the hallmarks of good HVAC design and the tell-tale signs of underlying problems
Genesis Engineers has been selected to provide retro-commissioning and engineering services for over 140,000 SF of laboratory and office space, including ten (10) HVAC systems. Field work includes a BAS thermostat audit, valve and damper position tests, air handler sequence of operations challenges. Engineering analysis includes development of an issues log to document field findings, review of existing TAB reports, analysis of as found conditions, energy modeling of the building and producing recommendations for system operating improvements, airflow modifications, energy reduction, implementation strategies, costs and return on investment information.
A data processing software leader has chosen Genesis to provide engineering services for the installation of an environmental and branch circuit monitoring system at the rack level for a 40,000 SF data center. The installed system monitors 480 locations for temperature and humidity and approximately 2,000 branch circuits. Each point is scanned every five (5) minutes and data is stored for a minimum of five (5) years. The system displays and trends low, average and high readings for each rack monitoring area, each row area and the overall data center.
A global pharmaceutical company selected Genesis Engineers to provide engineering, management and coordination services for the PECO Smart Equipment Incentives program (PECO Act 129) for all applicable projects in southeastern Pennsylvania. The PECO Smart Equipment Incentives program provides financial incentives to encourage implementation of energy efficient upgrades to buildings. Genesis has assisted in submitting $1 million worth of applications expected to be paid this year. The client has already received a $400,000 incentive check for a chiller plant control optimization project. The application process includes evaluation of the project to determine qualification, energy modeling to predict savings, a pre-approval application to reserve funding, measurement and verification savings, a final application with all required documentation to support the energy savings calculations and annual savings estimates, and technical support during the application review process..
